Corregidor Island, also known as "The Rock", stands as a memorial for the courage, and heroism of its Filipino and American defenders who bravely held their ground against the overwhelming number of invading Japanese forces during World War II.
the island looks like a tadpole
Under the Spanish Era, the island was called Isla De Corregidor, from the word CORREGIR means TO CORRECT. All ships entering Manila Bay were required to stop and have their documents checked and corrected at the same time there are correctional facilities within the island.
Corregidor Island had been a fortress of defense. The place cradled many American and Filipino soldiers. It became a post and station or the army defending the Philippines against the Japanese empire.
By 8:00 AM, we were already aboard MV Sun Cruises at CCP Manila Bay dock. An hour later, we arrived the tadpole-shaped island of Corregidor.
We arrived in Corregidor past 9:00 AM and as we set foot on the island, we hop on to the tram buses that will get us around the island. Each tram buses have their own tour guide with different languages (such as Japanes, Chinese, English, Korean, Filipino and Italian). One thing that catches my attention is that there are two kinds of version in Corregidor History both Japanese and American version.
Mile - Long Barracks
at Battery Way
Near the Eternal Flame of Freedom
Battery Crocket
Hospital Ruins
At noon, we went to the hotel for our buffet lunch (still part of the package). I enjoyed the food, the music and the scenery. After an hour, we go back to the trum buses to continue with our tour.
The Dome
Pacific War Memorial
Last stop, was the Malinta tunnel, where we had the Light and Sound Show. A 30 minutes narrative of events prior, during and after World War II. The tour guide told us that only 25 percent of the Pre-WWII buildings have been uncovered, which leaves the majority of the four-mile-long island still underneath the jungle, monkeys, eagles, and deer. I would like to borrow the famous line of Gen. McArthur "I SHALL RETURN" and that will surely happen because there are more things to do, more places to explore and much more to learn as to walk back to history and appreciate the fruits of our ancestors.

Experience the Longest, Fastest & Tallest Zipline in Asia!
Do you want to try the stunt done by our super heroes such as Spider Man and Super Man? Well, better check the must-try adventures that Davao City has to offer. They say that it is an "Ultimate Adventure Challenge" since you'll have to cross the river, climb up at the top, then go on one of the fastest zipline ever.
If you want to power up ... Buy your own energy drink at this store ...
FIRST Come FIRST Served
Tito Bill is kinda excited to try the EXCELERATOR
On our way to board on a wooden raft in order to cross a deep river. We have to stand on top of the raft while pulling their way across the lake.
at the other side of the river
Start the hike all the way up to the Starting Point
It will take 15-25 minutes hike depends on how fast you walk / climb on your way to the top.
We are ALL SET!!! TO FLY!!!!!
FEEL THE RUSH... IN JUST 30 SECONDS....
It maybe scary to look at for some but the feeling of success after reaching the endpoint is REWARDING....
How to Get There:
Diversion Road is at the end of Ma-a Road ( or Don Julian Rodriguez Ave.), where Outland Adventure is located, can be reach through a taxi from your hotel or from downtown city. For commuters, ride a jeep to reach NCCC Mall (Quirino Ave corner Ma-a Road) then take another jeep with signboard "Ma-a" until you reach diversion road. There are minimal jeeps around it, so you may ride habal-habal motorcycle or a short ride taxi.
Outland Adventure Camp is located at Carlos P. Garcia Highway (Diversion Road), Barangay Langub, Ma-a Davao City. It’s just near the “Twin Rocks” and the Davao GAP Farm. For inquiries and reservations, call them at (082) 2245855, (082) 271-6067 or (0918)6184330.
You may also visit their Davao office at 2nd Flr. Palacay Bldg. Circumferential Road, Marfori Heights, (Above RC Hobby Shop across from Rite Pharmacy), Davao City.
If you want something exciting and fun sport that can surely stretch some muscles then better try wake boarding at Deca Wakeboard Park in Mintal, Davao City. Around 30 to 45 minutes travel from downtown area. We arrived at the park around 9:30 AM and I'm surprised when I saw Albert Lehman (my classmate in high school) working there as a trainer and good thing we got discount because of him hehehehe thanks Bert! :)
Tito Bill is so excited to try wake boarding :) Ready and all SET hehehehe
Knee Boarding
My first try in knee boarding
My brother's third lap in knee boarding
Before you try the wake boarding, you must have to learn the knee boarding first so that your body especially your arms will get the hang of it. It will surely stretch your arms when the cable pull you forward. You will learn the timing, when to turn left or right and how to balance on the board. The requirement is to finished three laps before you will try wake boarding.
Me and Grace with our boards
Sadly, Its not easy to stand up and balance when the cable pull you forward in wake boarding. Tito Bill and Jansen tried few times but they never make it also. Its time consuming if many people are all lined up for their next turn.
As of May 2010, DECA Wakeboard Park rates are as follows:
***ALL Cable Passes are inclusive of Lunch or Dinner or Snacks (except Wednesday Half-Day AM for Davao residents and DECA residents); and, FREE use of wakeboard vest and helmet.
Sun-Tues and Thurs-Sat (8:30am - 12:30pm; 1:30pm - 5:30pm)
One of the most thrilling activities in Davao City is Wild Water Rafting. When my family went back to Davao for a whole month vacation last June 2010, I insisted to add that kind of adventure in our itinerary. Inclusive of:
- Transportation (From Crocodile Park to Rafting Area and back)
- Packed Lunch & Bottled Water
- Use of Gears & Equipment (lockers provided)

12.00 nn Lunch
3.00 pm Arrival at Take Out Area, Purok 8, Lacson
3.30 pm Departure for Crocodile Park
4.30 pm Arrival at Crocodile Park
We arrived at the Crocodile Park at around 8:00 a.m. (d halatang excited hehehe) We started the initial rafting orientation and our life vests and helmets were handed to us then we were asked to sign a waiver. We were all gathered to watch a pre-taped video on TV which served as the initial orientation. After the orientation, we changed our clothes, kept our belongings in the lockers provided and then we all headed to Davao River.
When we arrived in Tamugan, the weather is not good. When I asked our guide if we can still be able to continue, he said it is much more fun and exciting if its raining since the water level will rise and more rapids will we be able to encounter. Before we start, we have another orientation on how to put on our life vests, the basic white water rafting techniques and the different rafting lingos that will be used through out the activity.
READY!!!
At the beginning we tested on how well we listened to our guide's lecture. The first demo was defensive swimming. After that was how to pick up a team mate from the waters, using just your paddles. Always remember: Don't PANIC, Don't PANIC and Don't PANIC :)
Next was how to bring your team mate back up on the raft, without making your raft capsize. Then, the actual rafting part comes…During the whole course, our guide gave us info about how to paddle, how to cheer, and high-five: RAFTING STYLE!
HIGH FIVE!!!
We encountered a lot of rapids which were just full fun but there were those notable ones like the "Kiss The Wall", "Washing Machine", "Backhoe" and "Drop & Suck". In those rapids we did anticipate that our boat will get capsized and deep down I am very nervous but totally excited.
KISS THE WALL
WASHING MACHINE
BACKHOE DROP AND SUCK About halfway of our activity is the lunch break. So tired and hungry ....... but we are still smiling and excited to complete our activity.
gutom... need to replenish our energy :)
yum yum yum :)
ang mga basang sisiw hehehe
Jump Shot!
We continue the other half of our activity and encountered some rapids along the way.
After 4 hours of hard work and fun, it has come to an end. Every rapids that we encountered, we all raised our paddles and shouted HIGH FIVE, a symbol of achievement of what we have experienced.
*** The next day, I found out that our photographer and camera man on our rafting is one of my classmate in elementary. Than You Erwin!!! ***
*** Did we capsized? NO!!! hahahaha maybe next time :)
