DAVAO WILD WATER ADVENTURE

One of the most thrilling activities in Davao City is Wild Water Rafting. When my family went back to Davao for a whole month vacation last June 2010, I insisted to add that kind of adventure in our itinerary. Honestly, I', not a good swimmer but that didn't stop my excitement to try it while I still can. We have made a reservation and paid Php 2,000 / person ( minimum of 5 persons per rafting trip).

Inclusive of:
- Transportation (From Crocodile Park to Rafting Area and back)
- Packed Lunch & Bottled Water
- Use of Gears & Equipment (lockers provided)
- Riverguide
- Souvenir Shirt
- Photo / Video CD
- Zip line at ZIP CITY
- Entrance at Maxima Resort

TIME ACTIVITY
8.30 am Assembly at Crocodile Park
9.30 am Departure
10.30 am Arrival at Put In Area, Tamugan
11.00 am Start of Rafting
12.00 nn Lunch
3.00 pm Arrival at Take Out Area, Purok 8, Lacson
3.30 pm Departure for Crocodile Park
4.30 pm Arrival at Crocodile Park

We arrived at the Crocodile Park at around 8:00 a.m. (d halatang excited hehehe) We started the initial rafting orientation and our life vests and helmets were handed to us then we were asked to sign a waiver. We were all gathered to watch a pre-taped video on TV which served as the initial orientation. After the orientation, we changed our clothes, kept our belongings in the lockers provided and then we all headed to Davao River.

When we arrived in Tamugan, the weather is not good. When I asked our guide if we can still be able to continue, he said it is much more fun and exciting if its raining since the water level will rise and more rapids will we be able to encounter. Before we start, we have another orientation on how to put on our life vests, the basic white water rafting techniques and the different rafting lingos that will be used through out the activity.
READY!!!
At the beginning we tested on how well we listened to our guide's lecture. The first demo was defensive swimming. After that was how to pick up a team mate from the waters, using just your paddles. Always remember: Don't PANIC, Don't PANIC and Don't PANIC :)
Next was how to bring your team mate back  up on the raft, without making your raft capsize. Then, the actual rafting part comes…During the whole course, our guide gave us info about how to paddle, how to cheer, and high-five: RAFTING STYLE!

HIGH FIVE!!!

We encountered a lot of rapids which were just full fun but there were those notable ones like the "Kiss The Wall",  "Washing Machine", "Backhoe" and "Drop & Suck". In those rapids we did anticipate that our boat will get capsized and deep down I am very nervous but totally excited.

                                                           KISS THE WALL
                                                       WASHING MACHINE
                                             BACKHOE
                                             DROP AND SUCK
About halfway of our  activity is the lunch break. So tired and hungry ....... but we are still smiling and excited to complete our activity.
gutom... need to replenish our energy :)
yum yum yum :)
ang mga basang sisiw hehehe
Jump Shot!
We continue the other half of our activity and encountered some rapids along the way.

After 4 hours of hard work and fun, it has come to an end. Every rapids that we encountered, we all raised our paddles and shouted HIGH FIVE, a symbol of achievement of what we have experienced.

*** The next day, I found out that our photographer and camera man on our rafting is one of my classmate in elementary. Than You Erwin!!! ***

*** Did we capsized? NO!!! hahahaha maybe next time :)

PAINT BALL WAR GAME

Paradise Island Resort located in Samal Island where in my mom prefers to spend our relaxing day since it will just take 10-15 mins from our house. When we arrived in Paradise Resort, we decided to swim for a while at the beach then have our breakfast. I decided to take a rest at the beach bench to catch up some sleep. After few hours, Nice and Janz woke me up and told me that they will try Paint Ball. Along with Grace and Tito Bill (my mom prefers to sleep than join with us), we paid the fees Php 100 / person then we take the guns and gears. We went at the back of the resort where the game field with its artificial terrain is located.
Helmets and Gears
Our Guns
Ghost Buster??? Power Rangers??? Nah!!!!
Don't mess with me!... hehehehe
We form 2 groups. It will be boys vs girls tournament. Tito Bill and Janz for the boys and Nice, Grace and me for the girls. We are kinda hesitant since Tito Bill is a retired police officer in NYPD and I had this chill that something bad will happen.... Guess my instinct is right.
I was  SHOT by Tito Bill..... wwwwaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!

BLOOD!!!!!

I'm still alive and kicking... :) The wound may sting a little but we really had a lot of fun. As expected, the boys won the game but still we gave our best since I hit Tito Bill also in the chest.

KAWASAN FALLS

I visit Kawasan Falls twice already and still it takes my breath away. If you will visit Cebu, better include Kawasan Falls in your itinerary. It is located at Mt. Matutinao in Badian (Southwest part of Cebu)and it will take 3 hours ride by bus / van. In our case, we rent a van that will accommodate for 10 persons and a guide that will bring all our belongings. From the entrance, you will have to walk 20 - 30 mins through rivers and wooden bridges.
On our way to Badian

trek to Kawasan Falls

so...so...so... EXCITED !
There are 3 falls in Kawasan and the most popular is the first falls which is the largest and most crowded area.
First Falls
You may bring food or buy from the restaurants. Cottages and tables are also available for rent, as well as rooms for overnight stay.
Lechon with puso.... yum 2x
You may rent a raft to take you around the lagoon or for a refreshing "shower massage" under the falling water. Life vests are also available for a very affordable price.

so WET!
Tito Bill, Grace. Uncle Amay and Janz decided to go to the second falls. It will take another 10 minutes trek before you get to second falls and another 10-15 minutes trek to the third falls. I already visited the area so I decided to stay and just relax at the cottage.

NOTE: If you want to take Public Transportation to Kawasan Falls you can take CERES bus at South Bus Terminal with sign-age Bato or Samboan via Barili. Departure time is as early as 4:00 am. Just tell the driver or conductor that you want to drop in Kawasan Falls Entrance (just left side of the street with a church). You will pay Php 10 / person and just follow the road to the falls. There are cottages for rent within the area for about Php 300. If you want to rent a raft to experience the "Natural Massage" you will have to pay Php 300 and another Php 30 / person if you want to use a life vest (useful especially for children). Many overnight cottages can be rented for about Php 800 to Php 2,000 depending on the number of people availing the room. If you don't want to spend a night, better leave the falls around 4:00-5:00 pm so that you can get a bus back to Cebu City.
